Pre-Orientation Information
Congratulations new students! We look forward to welcoming you to campus. Cornell Army ROTC's Pre-orientation program offers an exciting, experiential learning based opportunity to learn about Cornell prior to the formal orientation and it's myriad of competing programs. The ROTC Pre-orientation program starts with early arrival on August 16th, and the formal program runs August 17-20 2009. The program is designed to give you a head start on meeting other Cornellians, making friends, and settling into life at Cornell while enjoying the outdoors and leadership training.
The program is free and most students qualify for merit-based scholarships coving full tuition, a monthly stipend up to $500/month, language scholarships and a book stipend of $1,200 per year following participation in the program. Your program will include an introduction to leadership, a leader reaction course, rappelling, rock climbing, orienteering, and a swim test. Depending on availability of aircraft, our program often includes a helicopter flight to orient you to the campus from high above Cornell.
There is no obligation to continue in ROTC following the orientation. Many of our participants choose to enroll in a fall semester course such as Mil Sci 101 and lab in order to determine if they might want to become a commissioned officer upon graduation from Cornell.
You can register for the program or get more information be completing the enrollment / information form.
